I would like to be the first to welcome you all to the Lore forum. This is a step forward in uncovering the hidden lore of GuildWars.
Lore Forum and You
Keep On Topic: As this is a lore forum, while initially requested by members of the community, is involved in searching for lore as part of the TAOS "Tyrian Academy of Sciences", this is still a community forum. This means that any and all are welcome to get involved and post no matter your affiliations. This is not the TAOS Lore forum, this is the GWO Community Lore Forum.
Again, as this is a LORE forum, please only post topics that stay to the subject. Any thread that may not be suitable for the forum will be moved to a more approprate location.
As with all GWO forums:

No degrading, racists, or derogatory posts or threads
Respect is to be given to all posters. You don't have to like each other, but you have to get along.
All posts are the property and opinion of the poster. While it may not be something you may agree to, respect must be shown. Whether or not it is what you may agree on, it is their opinion, and their opinion alone, no matter how farfetched it may be. Please do not result to flaming or degrading a person based on their view.

Thank You!|||Respect other people's hypothesises, theories, and ideas. No matter how farfetched they are. It is okay to argue a point, but aruging a point and insulting the poster of the point are very different. An argument is based on your own scientific information, an insult is based on your own opinion of the poster. For example, if someone says "2+2=5", it is perfectly okay to mathematically show they are mistaken, however it is not okay to call the poster "stupid" or "n00b", or say "2+2=4 stupid". Nothing can be accomplished by taking cheap shots at each other in this manner.|||As to posting questions, yes, This is a lore forum, it does not mean only articles should be posted. Any questions, comments, or topics related to lore from anyone is welcome. We are not the lore police. Lets just try to keep the forum for lore only as there are forums for everything that the community may want to discuss.|||In a forum that concentrates on controversal issues regarding GuldWars Lore what drives us forward is our opinions.
All "constructive" opinions are to be respected as this is part of the forum guidelines. There is to be NO negative responses to ANY possibe comment. What is considered negative and positive is left to any moderator. There is a difference between posting a respectfull opposing view and simply wishing to post a negative comment.

The Lore Forum is divided into three main sections--Tyrian Lore, Canthan Lore, and General Lore.
Below is a quick run through of what to post in each of these areas:
Tyrian Lore- In this subforum, lore related to the continent of Tyria or to the first Guild Wars game, Guild Wars: Prophecies, should be posted.
Canthan Lore- In this subforum, lore related to the continent of Cantha or to the second Guild Wars game, Guild Wars: Factions, should be posted.
General Lore Forum- Here is where lore relating to things that cross continents or games, such as connections between places or characters, areas accessible from both games (Fissue of Woe, the Mists, Underworld, etc), or topics that do not fit anywhere else, or do not have a specific subforum, should be posted.|||As of July 29th, 2006:
Another new subforum has just opened in the Lore Forum in addition to the ones previously added--Elonian Lore.
As the title suggests, this forum is a place to post lore relating to the continental body of Elona and Guild Wars: Nightfall.
Note: Lore relating to the Elonians in the Crystal Desert should still be posted in Tyrian Lore.|||As of December 16th, 2006
I've noticed that every other post nowandays in the Lore Forum is simply someone dismissing an entire thread as "a game mechanic" or "the developers reused a skin". While these are very valid opinions, they are not within the context of the Lore Forum, and as such, should not be posted.
In the same way we do not discuss things like map travel, HUDs, UIs, and health bars as they are not considered lore, we should not be dismissing people's ideas as just game mechanics. This is not a valid way to debate someone, and is quickly becoming an overused and played out excuse.
The Lore Forum exists to discuss the aspects of the in-game world. Topics that violate the fourth wall by including the hand of the developers as a valid scientific excuse are not acceptable.
With this in mind, as of now, I will remove any and all posts containing the "only a reused skin" or "only a game dynamic" argument. If a post is significant, and only has this phrase or a similar phrase tacked on to the bottom, I will remove the phrase and leave a note on the post.
If your only basis of disagreement is "coincidence" or "game mechanic", I ask you to refrain from posting and let users who are interested in legitamately discussing the subject continue to debate unhindered. Show the same respect for others as you would expect yourself.
Thank you.|||Too often the words "hypothesis", "theory", and "guess/assumption" are thrown around to mean the same thing. However, this is not the case. The purpose of this thread is to explain and highlight the difference between the two in the hopes that people will begin to understand the proper usage of the terms.
HYPOTHESIS

THEORY

So there you have it. Although vernacular tends to confuse the words "theory" and "hypothesis" they are distinctly different concepts. Or to summarize:

Any posts containing things such as "Certain NPC/s is/are a n00b/s." or anything in regards to that context will be removed. This isn't really adding to the discussion and may as well be spam.
Also, please refrain from bringing up NPC levels in the discussion as it is also irrelevant.
A little late in the game mind everyone, and I think by now everyone gets the idea, but either way. Any and all information relevant to Guild Wars: Eye of the North is to be posted in the Northern Tyrian Lore subforum.
