Why does Melandru let Grenth and Dwayna determine the length of Winter? wtf

I thought Melandru's rule is over nature, is this whole event seems to make it seem not.

Grenth to lengthen the winter, dwayna to bring spring sooner.

Melandru just lets them mess with her realm? wtf.|||Dwayna: Air and life

Grenth: Death and cold

Melandru: Nature and Earth

Dwayna vs Grenth, Life vs Death

Dwayna wants to get rid of the cold that Grenth wants to extend.

Sure it would be a nice addition if Melandru would step in, but the opposite of Grenth is Dwayna.

Why doesn't she intervene when we destroy each other or wildlife to drill another well? Maybe Melandru is in the same situation?|||Personally, I always find the Elonian calender more accurate (Grenth has the last quarter in such a case).

However, assuming that we're going off the Tyrian calender, I would put it down to Melandru not interfering with things. The warmth of 'spring' causes many to survive, while the ice of 'winter' causes other creatures to thrive and grow. That's how I see it, anyway.

I also believe the Wintersday theme also has some ties to the American Groundhog's Day, where depending on certain actions the cold will be prolonged, or the warmth will come sooner.|||I think the Melandru:

1. looks the big picture, like th eabove said winter is good for some.

2. knows that all Grenth can do is extend it a litle longer, winter will alwys end.

3. if people want it to stay cold, how can we learn if the gods are always ovderriding what we do.|||Melandru's realm is nature, but you forget that of the elements, Melandru's is earth. Dwayna is air, Balthazar is fire, and Grenth is ice (i.e., water).

While it could be argued that nature should have control over everything, it would be a bit like declaring both the fire and ice guys from X-Men redundant because of Storm's existence. There's control, yes, but it's not specialized. I think that while Melandru has control over nature as a whole, Grenth, if he gets enough power, would be able to tilt it drastically towards cold and ice. and really, that's what the Wintersday contests are, Grenth's bid for power. If Dwayna wins, then she works with Melandru and nature takes its set course.|||Actually the God of Secrets is the god of water but I agree with the element statement.
