Charr invaders

Im new to the lore thread and I was having a hard time suspending my belief the other night while playing EotN.

The thing that got me was that the charr in the charr homelands are FAR more stronger than the charr that attacked ascalon....and indeed still make their "living" from the ruins of ascalon.

Now this may not be lore but then it could be...

why isnt the strongest out attacking ascalon?|||Because why send your strongest in the front lines and leave the weakest to protect the shamans (those controlling the Charr army) to do so would only give the enemy (the Ebon Vanguard) the ability to flank and conquer from behind.

Lets also not forget our favorite Charr hero, Pyre, who is apart of a Charr rebellion. A clan of Charr seeking to crush the Shaman caske (sp?) So most likely the strongest Charr loyal to the Shamans would protect the Shamans from their own in case if one like Pyre managed to attempt at assassination. Those still loyal to the "gods" are fighting a two front battle from both the Vanguard/Ascalonians and rebel Charr.

It's strategy, besides the obvious game mechanics. A level 5 wouldn't stand a chance against level 20-28s first starting out. Then again, you can go into Ascalon and run HM.|||If we assume level means experience, then the Charr have increased in level as we have from fighting their war with Ascalon. Also, the Charr in Ascalon are the Charr from right after the Searing, keeping in mind that all areas are instanced, not dynamic. Furthermore, the Charr in Ascalon are only a retaining force, the main Charr army went on to Orr and Krtya and was defeated.|||Spoiler

I think the Charr in their homelands are the same power as the ones in the Ruins of Ascalon; as we learn in Gwen's quest, in the 6 years since Stormcaller caused rain to fall on Rin, Dahgar the Eye of Flame led a renewed surge into Ascalon, and until we returned, they were gaining ground daily.|||Quote:

Hm thats true but I believe the prisoners say 'these charr' were unlike anything they had ever seen... -searches wiki-|||please also keep in mind, that the events of EotN occur roughly 6 years after prophecies, when we first started out in Old Ascalon (in total EotN is 8 years after the searing), so the veteran Charr also have had plenty of time to grow stronger, be promoted to drill sergeants, and train new recruits, which they then send off to the front lines...|||ok I know this is hard impliment...but then again...how many people go back to post searing ascalon for any missions.

so what im gathering playing through the game...is charr use weaker charr to fight and die.

anyone do the fight the charr outside gunnars hold will notice SOME level 20's commanding and the rest really low level.

so it could be like the movie braveheart....Edward the longshanks sends in the cruddy troops first to whittle the enemy down and then send in the tougher bodies to finish the decimated enemy.

that works for me.

Didnt the kingdom of Orr vanish before the searing?

now I can understand if the charr were defeated on the way to kryta...but they would have had to get through kryta first.|||Quote:

No, the kingdom or Orr vanished soon after in an event known as the "Cataclysm". As the Charr advanced on the Orrian city of Arah, Orrian King Reza's advisor delved into the catacombs below Arah and spoke the words on an ancient, forbidden scroll. This devastated the invaders but also sunk most of the Orrian peninsula. I will not mention the nature of this scroll OR the advisor's name, as i would consider them Spoilers.

The Krytan Charr forces were met by Saul D'Allesio and his newfound Unseen Gods, beings which easily turned the tide and drove back the horde. Again, i won't mention the name of the godlike creatures. (Although any trip to this forum yields at least one new utterance of the name :D)|||Spoiler

Let us not forget about the Last Day Dawns quest, where we actually go back to Ascalon after completing the Flameseeker Prophecies.

There, we face more powerful Charr than when we first got to post-searing, which would imply that the Charr have moved in with their more powerful forces since we were away|||Quote:

Since they're "Charr Lords", it might have been that since they are the top of the Charr hierarchy, they were there to fight alongside their Titan gods, and they travelled south from the Charr Homelands to strike the final blow against Ascalon.
