GW1 and GW2 hundred years difference??!!

one of my favorite things about GW was that it didnt have any guns and all that stuff but right now i heard that GW2 is gonna happen 100 years later!! this worries me in the way that they might have some modern items like guns or some canons.

what do u think will happen in GW2?? (in technology)|||Quote:

It fails me completely why such hate for modern technology.

Despite that, no one knows what will those two hundred years will represent in terms of technological development...

But may I add something?

Such discussion is moot...

The golems used by the Asura have FREAKIN' LASER TECHNOLOGY!!!

They have knowledge of Nuclear energy and power sources, other wise there would be little reason for the Radiation Field skill.

Sheesh... Why be afraid of something that exists NOW!|||I don't think they will implend modern technology in a game like GW, but more stuff like the Asura already have.

You know, the whole sci-fi / ancient technology / stargate thingies.|||Yeah, GW:EN, as someone on the GWW IRC pointed out, is reeeaaally random. ANet introduced robots and dinosaurs O_o|||wait, why is this in the lore forum?|||I don't see what's wrong with guns and cannons in fantasy genre.|||Quote:

I think the OP is worried he'll see guns like this:

as opposed to something more logical for Tyria 100 years on like this:

|||Well, we have siege cannons, robots, lasers...but they're all GW-themed. Putting actual firearms into the game probably wouldn't work.|||I don't think cannons would be unacceptable, but of course they wouldn't be carried by players. They'll probably be stationary & can be interacted with to launch an attack like our current catapults in Guild Wars

I don't think they'll be guns in Guild Wars though, the look just doesn't fit in the universe in my opion. I mean, seeing a Charr aiming a old fashioned pea-shooter at me just breaks the whole fantasy setting ...for me anyway.|||I can see what the OP is worried about. Guns and weapons along those lines really have no place in the GW world as far as I can see. It's deeply rooted in swords and sorcery. Yes the Asura have golems but they're not technological. Anet created them to look like robots but they still run off of magic. A game like WoW has guns and techology and I've always felt it clashed with the medieval forms of combat.

This is not hate for modern technology but an acceptance that it really has no place in GW.
