[PCG] GW2's state

But ok (this is from memory since I don't have the mag on hand atm):

- ancient dragons are awakening. there is one called Primordus, which is gathering new minions after the Great Destroyer got whupped and set back its awakening by 200 years.

- an awakening under Orr causes it to rise from the sea, which becomes an evil land full of undead controlled by that woken dragon. Arah becomes an evil, spooky, haunted place!

- Orr's rise causes a tsunami that deluges Lion's Arch, turning it into a haven for corsairs and rogues. Battle Isles are submerged, and a new entry to HoH is opened up in Kryta (think it was LA, either that or Divinity Reach)

- The Queen is restored and Kryta moves its capital from LA to Divinity Reach (on the Divinity Coast). And Kryta becomes a central kingdom for humans from all over.

- In Cantha, the new emperor rules harshly and annexed the Kurzicks and Luxons. Orr controls the seas and contact with Cantha is totally cut off.

- In Elona, Palawa Joko defeats all the nations and the Sunspears by diverting the river Elon. His base is in the Crystal Desert, making contact between Tyria and Elona almost impossible. The Order of Whispers quietly spreads all over and recruits new members.

- Norn and Charr are more or less at peace, Dwarves are almost extinct, Sylvari just woke up, Asura is neutral to everyone and provides the gates to all races for trade and commerce. The Dredge takes over the emptied out Dwarven lands, and fights with the Norn.

- Nope, nothing about Mursaat, or the Stone Summit.

I thought this was quite interesting to throw in the Lore forum. Thanks to Frostlight for the summary.

Seems Primordus is the dragon at the end of EotN, and taking over the Great Destroyer's gig. Elona's situation.. We knew we'd regret it. Wonder how he was able to mess with the Elon, being in the Desolation and all.

And if the above seems to be false, you know the drill |||

*worships*|||well if elona and cantha are gone is the new LA going to be the only major city? and are they going to add new areas or do we reconect with elona and cantha later in the campagin?

i know you probly dont know the answer to that, it was more like a statment.|||Quote:

We don't know yet. From a game design perspective, having Tyria, Cantha, and Elona in the released product would be extremely strenuous on the design team. From a marketing perspective, Cantha and Elona could be considered two possible future expansions to capitalise on, which would mean a lot less time could be spent designing the product and a lot more time could be spent implementing it.

And finally, from a lore perspective, each race is meant to be on equal footing. The Asura get the Depths of Tyria, the Sylvari get the Tarnished Coast, the Norn get the Far Shiverpeaks, the undead get Orr, the Dredge get the Northern and Southern Shiverpeaks and the humans get Kryta. Humans wouldn't be much of a minority if they were still a major force in seven regions over three continents.|||Quote:

You forgot the charr who'll probably have conquered Ascalon by then |||Quote:

Then this begs the question, "are the lands East of the Shiverpeaks (Ascalon) abandoned?"|||Well, I will miss Cantha as I am one of those wackos who really liked Factions. I hope that they do release it at some point. Hmm and no mention of the charr?|||Well, it looks like our speculation in the 'Creater in Drakkar Lake' thread is at least somewhat on the mark. Maybe more than we know, these are just teaser bits we're seeing here after all.

I can see a couple ways things could go game-wise from what we've been told. Cantha is cut off, but still apparently viable. We know the Asura gate system goes there, so it wouldn't seem impossible to open it up in the future that way.

More likely though I think we could be looking at added content (in whatever form ANet chooses) that will probably include a grand mission to retake Elona (why else even bother to mention the Order of Whispers?) and maybe an invasion force FROM Cantha led by this new Emperor who is apparently consolidating power to a far greater degree than we've seen the past and current administrations attempt. I could easily see a situation take shape similar to Imperial Japan's violent push for expansion leading up to and during WW2.|||hope not, i also am a junky for cantha XD

But new areas/material would be very nice also.|||What about Ascalon City?
